LOOK3 PROJECT CRITIQUE SESSIONS
June 12 & 13

These in-depth classroom sessions are a unique offering
designed for photographers with a serious body of work
ready to take to the next level. Open to enthusiasts,
photo students, and professionals, these classes are
oriented to uncover the seed of your project, to talk
about your approach and point of view, edit and sequence
the work, and identify a strategy for moving it forward.
Each session will be led by picture editor MaryAnne
Golon and photographer Maggie Steber, who will offer
critical insight, encouragement, and lead group reviews
to help you walk away energized and confident about
the future of your project.

Maggie Steber
Maggie Steber has worked as a documentary photographer
in over 55 countries. She received Alicia Patterson
Foundation and Ernst Haas grants for her longtime
work in Haiti, which was published in the book “Dancing
on Fire” (Aperture). She is a Leica Medal
of Excellence recipient, and has won World Press,
POY, Overseas Press Club awards, among others. From
1999 until 2002, Maggie served as Assistant Managing
Editor of Photography at The Miami Herald.
She currently consultants on newspaper redesigns
and shoots for National Geographic Magazine,
Life, Newsweek, The New York
Times Magazine, Smithsonian and other
publications. Her photographs are published in numerous
anthologies and have been widely exhibited. |

MaryAnne Golon
MaryAnne Golon is Time magazine's
Director of Photography. She manages the photography
department of the international news weekly along
with Alice Gabriner, the magazine’s picture
editor.
Among her professional contributions to Time,
Golon led the photography team that produced the
Hurricane Katrina special edition and the September
11, 2001 special black-bordered edition, each winning
a National Magazine Award for single issue topics.
Golon has received numerous individual picture editing
awards from the POYi (Pictures of the Year International)
and the NPPA's (National Press Photographer’s
Association) Best of Photography competitions.
Golon was the on-site photography editor for Time
and Life magazines during the 1990-1991
Gulf War in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. She has been
directly involved in the production of scores of
Time covers and special editions. She coordinated
Time's photographic coverage of the Olympic
Games for sixteen years.
